Collette Warren
Collette Warren is a singer/songwriter born and raised in Birmingham, and now residing in Bristol. Collette is mostly known for her works in drum & bass as a vocalist and top line songwriter. She has worked with a number of well known producers in this genre including Mercury Award winning Roni Size, DJ Marky, Calibre, Skeptical, Technimatic, Break, Pola & Bryson, Ben Soundscape, Koherent and many others. In 2018 she released her first solo EP ‘Hidden Lines’ which was released on DJ Marky’s label Innerground and reached number 5 in the Beatport charts.
During lockdown 2020/2021, Ben Soundscape and Collette Warren hosted a weekly livestream every Friday, with Ben DJing and Collette singing and communicating with their listeners, which lead to them receiving a nomination for Best Livestream at the Drum & Bass Arena Awards 2021. Collette also started her own Podcast called ‘The Mic Diaries’ where she interviewed the top vocalists and MC’s in D&B including Charlotte Haining, Riya, Degs, Tali, Stamina and many more.
Also in 2021, she wrote an EP ‘Black Rainbow’ which she released on her own imprint CW Music. The project included tracks from Trex, Winslow, Dunk & Motiv. She also co-wrote a 14 track album ‘Two Sides of Everything’ with fellow vocalist Riya. This featured tracks produced by Roni Size, L-Side, Whiney, Random Movement, Monrroe, Ben Soundscape, Kyrist and more, which they also self-released on their imprint Carnelian Music. They were awarded a grant from PRS ‘Women Make Music’ for the album, which was received to great acclaim being nominated for Best Album, Best Single, Best Artwork and Best Newcomer Label at the 2021 Drum & Bass Arena Awards, as well as Best Vocalist. In 2021 Collette also achieved 2 BBC Radio 6 plays (Mary-Anne Hobbs. Steve Lamaq) for her track ‘Cold Black Soul’ and a 30 min mix with Riya on Radio 1 (Rene LaVice)
Collette has extensively toured North America and Europe, as well as Australia & New Zealand. She’s also been brought out to Brazil twice by DJ Marky. Often booked with partner in crime Ben Soundscape for their live DJ/vocal set, she also takes bookings to host other DJ’s sets, as well as live PA’s of her well known songs. In recent times her & Riya have put together a live set of their album ‘Two Sides of Everything;’ and continue to tour the album after playing successful shows in London, Bristol, Liverpool and Jersey. This is a unique show and something that has never been done before in drum & bass, with 2 vocalists at the forefront performing a set of their own songs, side by side.
As well as playing live individually and with Riya, Collette has formed a 6-piece drum and bass band Collette The Dots, which allows her to perform her songs in a live capacity. Collette The Dots have been a regular fixture on the Bristol live scene, last year supporting Andy C at the iconic Lakota on New Year’s Eve 2021.
Collette is currently working on new material set for release in 2023, including another EP to be released on Carnelian Music and several collaborations.
